  3. FedEx says:

Awwwww! What kind of puppies are they?

    • Bryonia says:

      100% genuine mutt

I haven’t seen anything about purebred dogs in Iraq other than the ones brought in and owned by the military although I figure there are some herding dogs. I have the impression that Iraqis don’t like dogs.

      • Michelle says:

        “100% genuine mutt”?!
How to you even know if that’s Iraq? And what gave you the impression that Iraqis don’t like dogs?

      • lunakitty09 says:

the arabic culture in general dont like dogs and most of them are often mistreated. i know from some of my friends who have been over there, that the local dogs like the soliders because we don’t mistreat them and will often give them food

        • miguel says:

so were did your friend go???
          to arab-land???
how can you be that close-minded???

          • chuck says:

Yeah, in Arab-land. They don’t like dogs. Which is why it’s tough to get the Iraqi’s working with Bomb-sniffing dogs right now.

            • eric says:

People, we all need to chill. It’s not ignorant or intolerant to note that other cultures feel a particular way. In Arabic culture dogs (as well as pigs) are considered dirty animals. I spent over a year in Iraq and most dogs are either guards or mutts that wander free, because there aren’t any social services to catch or care for them. It is sad. My unit adopted a litter of puppies near one of our checkpoints, but I saw many put down :(

      • miguel says:

        wow…iraquis dont like dogs uh???
you seem to be pretty smart.. wont you by any chance be that guy (darnt it i forgot his name) that saw weapons of mass destruction in a cloud pic???
yeah, pure mutts…have you ever been outside your county??? yeah county, not country….

        • Colin says:

wow miguel, as to your first comment, maybe the way that luna’s friends know that Iraqi dogs like soldiers is…wait for it…they ARE soldiers who have been deployed to Iraq. as for your second comment, the 100 percent mutt thing was, i believe a joke and a rather amusing one at that. and as for the pic? it is an excellent reminder that no matter where we go and what is happening when we get there, the love of a dog transcends all.

  4. SKAZZ says:

    so cute those lil puppies

  5. Jane says:

This is sweet and heartbreaking at the same time.

  6. Sqwirk says:

When you hear the barking of dogs… seek refuge in Allah, for they see which you do not see – Hadith

  7. kelsey says:

OMG! i made this! its on the front page! :)

  8. Lilly says:

I’m sorry to say that but, most of these condemned usa soliders kill puppies like these when they find them.
    Sad but true.
I’d like to kill the soliders who do that.

    Ffs

    • zombie says:

Yepp. Some people should search the internet. See how far a honored soldier can throw such a puppy.

      Americans, bah…

    • kelsey says:

      wat?!!! nooooooo! :( :( :(

    • CottlestonPie says:

Most? You’ve met them all and you know what they all do? Or are you making a sweeping condemnation of them all because of the bad behavior of a few?

And you’d like to “kill” them? Maybe you need to think about your own violent tendencies.

    • sprent2922 says:

I was a soldier and served 2 deployments to iraq. Not only did we have a dog at the joint security station I worked at but she was well fed and taken care of and even received care packages of dog treats from some of our parents. I’m now a civilian and have a german shepherd who is my best friend. Yes some soldiers are assholes. But don’t judge all of us by the actions of a few. Oh and nice to call U.S. Soldiers condemned. Just leave the U.S.A. alone if you don’t like it. If you’re from the U.S.A. please leave you’re one of the people making our entire nation look bad.

      • kim says:

Thanks for your service, and for taking care of the dogs, here and in Iraq!

      • callmecrazy says:

thank you soldier for the job you do to keep us safe and free

      • sprent2922 says:

thank you guys for the support. It’s nice to know that people support us. Hell even I don’t support the war but I respect everyone that is forced to fight in it.

        • Colin says:

As a proud Canadian, I am the first to condemn the war in Iraq but i am the first to SUPPORT the soldiers risking, and all too often laying down their lives in faraway countries. Sprent, you, the men and women who you served along side and all the other soldiers serving around the world have my undying respect for your willingness to sacrifice so much. I just wish that the cause you served were better, but that problem is caused by the people that risk so much that is not theirs to risk.

    • callmecrazy says:

Isn’t LOL the place to comment on “cute pupd kitties”, not political commentary?
Save the political commentary for CNN, and just enjoy the too cute puppies.

  9. teh puppehz luk heathy and clean, tehy must hav gud mommy

  10. Tony Branston says:

So how much have we cut casualties in Iraq with the “Look at these cute critters and stop shooting civilians already” initiative?

    • sprent2922 says:

you know it’s the strangest thing. but since we’re not at war with an official army but a militia, every time that coalition forces shoot some one in defense they are technically a civilian.

    • omy says:

Don’t You Dare condemn American Soldiers…. I lost a Son “making nice with the locals” giving them money for their businesses…. Don’t you Dare condemn them for what they did… You people make me sick.. he had adopted a puppy over there before he died… and they couldn’t send it back….

  11. SuperBrat says:

Aw lookit da puppehs. I had a friend in college who had to take off time from school cus he was sent to Iraq. He told me about all the dogs that were around the base and how theys were nice to the dogs, cus the dogs hated most of the Iraqies cus they would always kick them and stuff, so when the dogs growled the American soldiers knew somethin was up

  12. Julie says:

The person and I use the term lightly who condenmed all our troops clearly has not tried to know the truth. Yes, the war is unfortunate and yes, the US should get out of there. But NO, our troops are not killing dogs indiscriminately. Many soldiers and even the families of soldiers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice have moved heaven and earth to bring dogs they found in Iraq back with them. Check your facts, Buddy and limit your own massive volumes of HATE.

  13. sprent2922 says:

There was a unit in Iraq that was hit by an IED. when they surveyed the crater they found a puppy inside it. The unit took the puppy back to base with them and named it boomer. I wish I could say they took it home but I honestly don’t know.

    • Winechick says:

Sprent: Thank you for your service to our country. While many have had plenty of disagreements about how this unofficial war is being conducted, I feel the majority of Americans support the soldiers 100%. Governments make decisions that its citizens must live with, whether they agree with those decisions or not. It’s truly heartbreaking to know that there are animals, especially puppies, in need who will most likely not make it to see adulthood, no matter what part of the world they live in. I wish all soldiers could have a companion like a dog, becuase it is a slice of home and the comfort that a dog can bring. There was only ONE documented case of anyone harming a puppy, which is, of course, one too many. However, it is reprehensible that anyone would make a blanket statement saying that ALL soldiers are like that and I hope whomever posted that realizes what a bonehead thing that is to say.
Best of luck to you, Sprent, and to all our troops.

  14. Davio says:

I really hope that isnt David Mortari

  15. Ampatent says:

Unfortunately, when it comes to war… animals often get caught in the cross-fire, whether it’s simple mistakes or genuine anger. If a fellow dies in combat, the animal will usually be subjected to the aggression of a distraught soldier.

That being said, I’m sure there good men and women out there that take care of lost and abandoned animals. It’s just the bad ones that we all end up seeing.

  16. RxCowboy says:

Every now and then a caption achieves greatness… this is one of those…

  17. RxCowboy says:

Wow, Lilly, are you ever a bigoted idiot. My son is a soldier… I hope I never meet you.

  18. Nikki says:

yeah…let’s just hope these puppies don’t get thrown off a cliff like the last one.

  19. callmecrazy says:

Puppies, ya gotta love them.. They make friends everywhere…Cute and sad at the same time

  20. Jood says:

To clear up re: ‘Iraqis don’t like dogs’

Some Iraqis don’t like dogs. Some do. Many keep dogs as pets – my parents kept a big white German Shepherd/something. However most people keep them in the gardens and don’t humanize them. It’s rare to find a pure bred – probably because people’s lives are harder and they have less time to spend doing things like breeding pure bred dogs. There is no such thing as one Iraqi attitude to dogs. Iraqis are as diverse as any other nation. And by the way, not all Iraqis are Muslim. My family are traditionally Catholic with a few Protestants and several athiest/agnostics :) .

    • tankyu Jood :)

Not everyone thinks of animals the way we do, for some their either food or labour animals… The important thing to me is not treating animals with cruelty. North America isn’t innocent in this . Cows, Pigs and Chickens are sometimes kept in very cruel conditions here as well.

It’s a very sad reality and I think people all over the world need to speak up about it. Even animals we keep for food deserve to have some peace and contentment before their lives are taken from them. I’d say that’s only the only fair and human thing we can do for them… they deserve some respect and quality of life. If I’m going to be using an animal for food, I want it to have at least enjoyed it’s life before hand.

Now that I’ve said all that, please excuse me as I got back to looking at the way too cute puppies! :D

  21. miri says:

    Well said, Jood! Many thankx!

I like Puppeh on the right – he’s the smartest of the bunch, is my guess. Look at his expression!

    • Jood says:

I know he’s like: ‘Who’s dat man and does he come bearing fud?’. Little shy one on the far left is cute too tho.

  22. lunakitty09 says:

as a soilder this one really means a lot to me. and i know it means a lot to a majority of the soilders over there

  23. Gretgor says:

    =(

“Puppies… I wanna go home to mom, I wanna leave this place… I want to go where the grass is green, I want to go back to where I belong… Where there are puppies all around and warm beds…”

It’s sad how so many people threw their lives at game because of this stupid war =(

    Cute goggies nevertheless

  24. Dee says:

Cute pic – stupid unthinking bigotted comments (not all of them – you know the ones I mean) – this pic represents the brave individuals who are doing their best in an untenable situation – who wouldn’t find comfort in a puppy, when so far away from all that is familiar. Thanx to the military who are doing an unenviable job to protect our way of life, including the right to disagree – freedom of speech does not actually come “free”.
