Does anyone know what kind of dog this is?
The dog is a blue merle great dane. He is 11 weeks old in the photo – his breeder tossed him in the woods to die at the age of 5 weeks because his color is not AKC recognized. Now he owns the human in the photo and lives a pretty good life.
It looks just like a Catahoula Leopard Dog. I’ve got one, seen them my whole life – Louisiana state dog
Makes sense that a Dane pup would resemble, there’s mastiff in the Catahoulas.
He is definitely a Dane. I’ve got a Fawn and she didn’t eat the couch she took it over, and my lap and the bed and anything else she could climb on. They are the bestest “goggies” ever!!!
What a sad beginning. It’s astounding to me that anyone would treat an animal that way – okay, so the puppy doesn’t conform for show; he can still be a fabulous companion. But I guess for some people profit is all, and it costs too much to raise a puppy if you’re not going to make money off it 9_9
