My dog did this, when you wore a towel on your head, then with the lawn mower, and the dishwasher, and finally… a painter’s stippling brush. The last, I have no idea why he thought was evil.
We have one too and my puppy plays with it and chases it!! its funny!!

Again, a scared dog (no, that wagging tail *doesn’t* mean he’s happy in this case, and no, he’s not “protecting” his people) with utterly inept owners does not a LOLdog make. The dog is genuinely fearful and is moved to bite (luckily, *this* time it’s an inanimate object). It’s not funny.
I have to agree; there was a lot of fear in this dog’s body language.
As the rhyme goes

Dogs wag their tails to the left when they are scared or aggressive, so yeah, wagging tail doesn’t mean everything is fine.
