Like my brother sez, “Why would you want a bald dog?” of poodles with the poodle cut. lol
I iz sheepz!1
sheep puppeh
Does you feel a draft??
I love dogs, but I don’t get how that is suppose to look good!?
in show circles, those of us who have nice smooth coated dogs have a saying: “The fluff always wins”. Since I showed bulldogs and pugs, this pretty much went without saying – we lumbered along and the poodles sashayed and we lost and they won.
Just think of dog shows as being akin to fashion shows – how much of what you see coming down the fashion runway gets worn on the street by actual human beings. The dogs we see in dog shows are all done up to look a certain way – even the ones that you wouldn’t think need a lot of grooming get special grooming…okay, maybe not to the point of ridiculous like poodles, but still…
“the fluff always wins” tends to be true with hoomans too.
Poodle cuts are not ridiculous there practical. Poodles are water retrivers and there coats absorb water so they need it cut. However cold water + furless dog = damage to muscles and the like so they leave it where it’s needed such as the ankles, head and tail.
Cannot tell a lie.
You do look that stupid.
O deer, teh shaved hinder iz kinda skarree, dew nawt lyke
I’m imagining maybe you could glue some cotton balls to your bull dog and get the same effect. lol
Show dogs are so very amusing to look at.
SUPPOSEDLY that goofy cut had an actual function, way back when. Poodles were water dogs, and the body was shaved to reduce drag, but the joints were left covered for warmth. I subscribe to the circus theory…HA
You are correct. That cut was designed to protect the dogs vital organs. This is not the only cut that Poodles are shown in. This just happens to be the most popular. And no, sewinglady, Fluff doesn’t always win.
While the cut originated as mentioned above, with hair coverings protecting the joint, the original haircut was not full of fluffed and dried pom poms. The hair was cut merely to cover the joints, it was not shaped into perfectly round parts.
The cut evolved into an art form over time so I would call it half functional and half art.
I personally think that it is beautiful and wouldn’t have my poodle in any other cut.
Do ai seez doggeh b*llz?
*snert* iz seez dem tew!!
