:O Wow. I really want to know what the heck is going on in this picture..

    • lolanswers says:

Either photoshopped or dog is standing on a solid surface with a Very thin layer of water over it. Makes a pretty normal optical illusion.

    • slupine says:

If you look closely, the paws are a bit submerged in the water. So wherever he’s at it’s just shallow enough and reflective enough that he looks like he’s walking on water. ^^

    • EmmajEssman says:

Several years of messing around with Photoshop and increasing the size to look at the way the pixels are laid out and modifying images just for the challenge….

lead me to believe that the image is adjusted. Only in a minor fashion by cutting out the water (where you would see the ripples or other reflections of things… ) around the objects in the picture. The dog and the trees all have a halo of pixels around them. Then the rest of the water is without… it’s a gradient. Even if something is white, if it’s a real photograph you will see some pixelation on it.

Regardless of all that only a nerd like me would wanna solve the mystery. It’s still a pretty interesting way to mess with your head. When you just wake up and glance at your favorite websites…. this one would mess you up.

      • purpletabby says:

Yeah, it’s neat, but the lack of ripples in the water around the dog’s feet is a dead give away.

      • techs says:

Outline around the dog’s legs is terrible. Still a cool picture from a distance.

      • Blarg says:

“Iz def a ‘shop, ah kin teel frum da peexulz”

        Fix’t.

        :P :D

      • torachan says:

I don’t think the water would be that reflective on an overcast day, either… or is the water less reflective on a sunny day? I don’t remember. We actually talked about that in my photography class one day and for the life of me I don’t remember what the prof’s conclusion was.
In any case, nice catch on the gradient.

      • Gumzball says:

Lulz You seen in the future, I did just woke up, my head went owch.,

    • Scooter says:

      IZ Jeezuz, hello!

    • beau beau says:

i Think the dog is standing on sand with a thin layer of water over it, that way you get the reflection and lack of ripple. its actually pretty cool when done right. maybe tide is out or something

  2. elfinugget says:

o hello gud doggeh!! Nao all u needz is sum sheeps.

  3. Pandatamer says:

Ohhh dare i say it? No i dont think i will… but im still trying to wrap my mind around this picture…

  4. Ima_Dame says:

    Now there’s a dog I’d follow.

  5. rosieluv says:

Oh, terrific! Now we will all be burned as heretics, you know this, right?…. Er, sori… rite?

  6. Flartus says:

Cast ur net on teh otter side, an u will getz hawt dawgs!

  7. ozgeek says:

bath time must be fun he just has to stand on the water and not get wet
also is this the loldogs son of (insert loldeity here cause im too lazy)

  8. Briareos says:

Yu know loldog speled bakwurds is GODLOL!!!

  9. Nahkatuuba says:

I think that dog is walking on the thing called “ice”.

  10. Me says:

This HAS to be photoshopped since there is no evidence of the dog causing ripples on the surface of the water. Even if the dog was perfectly motionless, his simple heartbeat would be enough to cause rippling on the surface. And as for the joke *hand slap to forehead* BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  11. V. says:

ARRRRRGH!!! I *WISH* this site would STOP accepting and posting ads from that Exclusive Small Dogs e-store!! JEEEZ, that’s pissin’ me off! The page keeps jumping to their ads, screwing up my scrolling and wasting my time……I wouldn’t visit their dog store site because of those awful tactics now if my doggie fru-fru accessory supply depended on it! I know things are tough now, but hijacking the webpage to get me to stare at your ad? Gimmie a BREAK!!

    -V.

  12. First says:

It’s not photoshopped. Look at the dog’s legs and then the reflection–you can see the difference in the angle. Also you can see some of the dogs belly in the reflection.

    • Me says:

they could have easily had the dog stand on a mirror, taken the photo, and then transferred it onto a scene with a placid lake. Way more likely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • torachan says:

Save the picture to your computer and enlarge it. As EmmajEssman said above, there’s a typical ‘cut-out’ halo of pixels around the dog and trees, but the lake is sooth as glass no matter how big you blow it up. Raster images (such as photographs) always have some pixelation, even in pure white and pure black. The ‘lake’ is just a gradient filter. It’s shopped. It’s a relatively good shop, though.

      • Ceefax says:

“As EmmajEssman said above, there’s a typical ‘cut-out’ halo of pixels around the dog and trees”

Take any photo you have taken yourself (so you know it isn’t photoshopped) put it through lossy compression such as jpeg and have a look around the edges of people and objects.

    • Reziah says:

Open Photoshop, paste an image, hit CTRL+T then right click… You’ll find that’s not hard to do.

  13. kcwc says:

This is my hotdog, broken for you….

  14. TiminBoston says:

Could be ice. The lake could be frozen over… Having lived on a lake for most of my life I’ve never seen water that still. Ice.. ice on the other hand is damn still.

  15. WildRice says:

Yeah but ice that smooth and reflective that can support a dog? I’ve never seen that.

  16. marty says:

After this he gets to ride home on the dashboard.

  17. KaBooM says:

Religious innuendo makes me hate this picture. *sigh* When will people realize…

  18. Dodger says:

Looks like it was taken after a rain on an icy Ontario lake. Mississagua to be precise. Brings back memories.

  19. ShadowQuest says:

KaBooM – too bad your religion forbids you to have a sense of humor. I highly doubt there was any intentional insult intended with this picture; I thought it was a very clever play on words. You’re going to “hate” the artistic value of it simply because of the caption? That is so sad.

Whether this pic is ‘shopped or not doesn’t matter to me. It’s a clever caption and a very nifty picture. Plus – none of that annoying made up “language” that these sites promote. I like this one & will probably pass it on; I’m sure even my friends who attend services will get a chuckle out of it, as they’ll realize it’s intended to be humorous & not offensive.

    • Reziah says:

Since when is any language in the history of mankind not ‘made up’ by someone at some point?
Lol speak is, in that regard, a proper language… it’s just a little silly is all.

    BAD PUN BAD PUN! :D

  22. wozzle says:

    good pun
    fun picture
    nice doggie

Shadow Quest, You would be correct in your assessment of my intention. Although I am in fact a devout Christian, & not ashamed of it, I had no intention of forcing any LOL viewers into converting to Christianity through some computer generated “Jedi Mind Trick” or anything.. Thank you for all of you who still champion free speech, & not just speech that you agree with, or that appeals to you. ;) Your votes are very much appreciated, & so are you.. Keep laughing! It’s the best medicine! ~Musicboy

  24. exhoicat says:

GOOD shepherd…won’t fleece flocks, OR taxpayers!

  25. farhibide says:

Crap. Somebody put jello in the lake again!

  26. SpamLamb says:

Yeesh. I just thought it was a cool picture with a cute caption. Who cares if’n it’s ‘shopped or not? I’m a Christian myself and I didn’t find it offensive. Where’s the love? Doggies don’t get all worked up over such things. To paraphrase Henry Higgins, why can’t a person be more like a dog?

  27. alleee says:

…and this time around I WON’T call Caananites “dogs.”

  28. Casa says:

I’d trust a good german shepard before I’d trust any thing else in this world…

  29. JONALDMCDONALD says:

It’s likely ice with a little bit of melting or rain on top. It’s not uncommon for ice to look smooth and reflective like that early in the season on a warm day.

    • Reziah says:

Yeah, if you look up a little there’s a link explaining that the whole lake is ice, with a thin layer of water on top.

  30. 2_TONE says:

Hmm… I’m more concerned with the location here. Tippy dam? (local fishing area) XD

  31. Laup says:

    HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?!
