We love the faithfulness of the breed too! We lost our last one (black) Magrilla, a year ago to cancer, she was 13 1/2, our fur child and we were all devastated and still miss her dearly. We didn’t think we could put ourselves through the passing of another one someday but we realized our lives were not complete without a chow so we got Chopper. Magrilla was intensely serious about guarding. Everyone from the grandkids to her own pet hamster were always under her watchful care and she was always waiting for a “bad guy” to show up! Even though one never came, the meter and UPS men made do!! When she died I put a memorial on our fence and we got so many cards and flowers and condolences at our door from people we didn’t even know but that had fallen in love with our girl from years of passing by! Chopper is a big goof and loves everyone, even the meter and UPS man! He’s one big baby and while no one can ever replace Magrilla, his warm, loving and funny personality has helped ease the pain! I wish God’s finest blessing to you and your two!
