  10. Kristen says:

I lukked on teh googlies and i tink teh goggie is a great pyranees.

    • rosamundi says:

Definitely not a Pyrenean – the head is all wrong and the ears stick up. A Pyr’s ears lie flat against its head. The coat’s too short, and his tail isn’t right either. (I grew up with two Great Pyrenees).

I thought some sort of mastiff, but again with the ears, and the Asian Shepherd Dog’s ears aren’t like that either.

Possibly a crossbreed of some sort.

      • Indefatigable says:

Looks like an Akita’s head and general build, but bigger. Akita/Mastiff, maybe, with the face wrinkles.

        • Miss Lynx says:

Yes, akita/mastiff cross was my thought when looking at it. Akitas can get pretty large even on their own, but they usually aren’t quite as bulky as that, and definitely don’t have quite such large heads – bu mastiffs do. Plus, its fur is shorter than that of most akitas I’ve seen – a little more like mastiff fur.

Although I suspect it’s probably partly the angle of the photo that exaggerates the size difference. Still… pretty sizable dog!

  11. Elle says:

Omg this dog is like the size of my great dane but with a looot more hair!!!
What kind of a dog is this?! I need one!!!

  12. Barbara E. says:

My St. Bernard will manuever herself sideways when encountering a person sitting on a chair or sofa so that she is more or less draped over a lap while still standing. Hard to describe; even harder to move!

    • Jessi says:

Yet you did an awesome job of it! We have a lab that comes to Doggie DayCamp who does the exact same thing. He’s very sneaky about it, too, so you don’t realize what’s going on until it’s already too late!

      • Flartus says:

My parents’ golden retriever used to do that–he knew he wasn’t allowed on the sofa, but I believe he honestly thought if he was on your lap, he wasn’t really on the sofa.
        .
“Wut? I iz on teh laps!”

    • Rich L says:

I had a Great Pyranese who did the same thing! I’d be laying in the snow, and he’d walk over and straddle me. If I tried to move, he’d move along with me! It was fun, but it took a while to get up :)

I miss that dog. Wonderful breed.

  13. reian says:

    I need a dog like that…

  14. Meow says:

I think its some sort of rare asian shepherd…i work at petsmart and someone has a 6 month old asian something shepherd and it is huge and white and fluffy.

  15. Meg says:

My old dog Bear used to do that. He wasn’t quite that big, but still 100lbs.

  16. nat says:

srsly what breed is this? or is it photoshoped :P ?

  17. Can says:

Good gawd – that dog probably weighs more than SHE does!

    I wonder who’s walking who…

  18. Puppyequalshappy says:

That dog has got to be past 150. The thing is bigger then some of my kid cousins!

  19. Sarah says:

Thats an Akita Mix of some kind!! I have one too, mine likes to lay on my feet…

They usually run 70-90 pounds for a female, male akitas are usually 100 or so…

    cute!

  20. Kit says:

    I think it’s a massive Akita

  21. Bob'surAnt says:

Looks like a freakishly massive akita. Some of the edges look a leetil bit fuzzy to me, so might be a ’shopped akita.

  22. meow says:

The owner says it’s an American Akita (http://irc-galleria.net/view.php?nick=_netta&image_id=66185662) Iz surely a lapdogz.

    • Ev says:

I’d only ever seen pix of Japanese Akitas, I guess. The American ones are really bulky … what a pretty dog.

    • Jessi says:

That dog is still waaaay too big for an Akita. American or Japanese.

    • stevie w says:

That website says the dog is 60 kilogram …. 132 pounds. WOUF ! Big dog ……big dog poop.
      75 cm …. 30 inches ….. tall ? I can’t read whatever that language is.
Oh, read the comment below, Finnish.

  23. meow says:

Oh dog poop, where did my comment go? Well anyway, the picture is taken from a Finnish myspace-like site, de owner sez it’s an American Akita.

  24. green_beanie says:

It looks like an Akita, probably the American type (they’re originally from Japan). They can get pretty huge, and they’re awesome dogs but I’d only recommend them for owners who know how to handle big dominant dogs. They’re also excellent guard dogs, but again, not for a novice. My friend had one and he used to eat about 1kg of raw meat a day. He also liked bananas :D

  25. SSj3 Derek says:

I bet he gives gigantic kisses.

  26. skrpune says:

YOWZA! That very well could be an akita or an akita mix. I worked with someone years ago who brought his female akita to work every day, and she clocked in at about 120lbs. Males tend to be larger, so perhaps this is a fella & not a little (no pun intended) lady. All I could gather from the original site (in a foreign language I do not understand) is that the dog is about 60kg, which is about 132 lbs, and if that’s a relatively petite woman then the proportions seem about right. That’s one big doggie!

    • skrpune says:

DOH, used wrong sign in, hopefully my avatar shows up now…

    • burgers says:

It’s a Finnish site, a bit like Facebook. There are lots of other pictures of that same dog and it’s not photoshopped, iz just a huge goggie ! (Oh, and it also says that it’s an American Akita, a male one.)

  27. Maddie says:

With a dog that size, who needs a horse?

  28. Green Is Good says:

Gad, is that photo-shopped? That dog is huge!

And I thought Irish Wolfhounds won the “I’m Huge!” category.

    • Dr Techie says:

The caption at the original site says 60 kg, which is a little over 130 lb.
It looks bigger. The head alone looks like 50 lbs.

  29. bluesfan473 says:

ai r hayuge butt ai r luvable!

  30. Suzanne says:

If you look at her hands and how she’s leaning on the dog, I really don’t think it is photoshopped but it might also just be the angle of the camera and she might also be small. It would be cool to see another photo with her and the dog standing up. He’s the “Clifford” of the Akita world!

  31. Tabais says:

That looks exactly like my Akita. 130lbs of pure fuzzy bliss!

  32. turnicus says:

dear god that dog is enormous

  33. The L says:

    So cuuuuuute!!!

He’s huge, but so lovable! Is it just me, or does it look like he’s got a bit of St. Bernard in him?

  34. dogsbmylife says:

Humpin my butt… ur doin it rong

  35. burnt eyes says:

    0_0

    HUGE DOG!

    That is all.

  36. bluesfan473 says:

Huge dog or small pony…..u make the call!

  37. Raven says:

    This is an American Akita.
Someone said earlier that Akita Inus get larger, but this is not true. Akit Inus from Japan get about 60 pounds. American Akitas can tip the scales at over 110 pounds.

This is a purebred. The wrinkles and skin mean nothing. It is just a large dog.

And remember, just because the standard says a breed is a certain size doesn’t mean that no specimen can be larger.

  38. newfy lover says:

My Newfoundland was that big, and gentle as a lamb.

    Damn, I miss that dog,

  39. Annabee says:

    Oh hay hueg goggie!

The pic is, as someone said before, from a Finnish site sort of like MySpace, you can find the original here http://www.irc.fi/_netta

The owner says the doggie is an American Akita and weighs about 60kg (132 pounds).

I’d say it’s not ’shopped, the doggie is big, the girl isn’t exceptionally tiny, but the angle the pic was taken from sure makes them look like an awesome pair.

  40. Chris J says:

It’s all fun and games until the dog has to poo.

  41. Bernermom says:

    OMG, he’s BEAUTIFUL!!!
My Berner, Nicholas sits on my lap while we’re watching TV. Only problem is, then I can’t see the TV!

  42. I want one so badly right now. It’s almost like a Riding Wolf. Strap a saddle on and put some kibble on a stick and we’re good to go!

  43. Jen says:

That’s EXACTLY the kind of dog I want! The bigger, the better! =D

    • Jessi says:

Believe me, unless you’re skilled at handling them, you should probably start out with smaller Akitas. They’re extremely intelligent and willful dogs and, sometimes, have a tendency towards dog aggression.

Not badmouthing the Akita breeds or anything, and I don’t want anyone to read this and think that I’m saying all Akitas are this way, but it’s just something to consider. Kind of like how you don’t just want to jump into owning pitties.

      • The L says:

Or how many of the people who get Jack Russel Terriers don’t realize how hyper they can get.

Or how some beginning dog owners don’t realize that even some short-haired dogs shed like crazy.

        • Jessi says:

Exactly! Grr… I have a lady in one of my training classes with a Jack that ‘just wants her to be like Eddie on Frasier!’ yet doesn’t work with her dog. She somehow seems to think that one hour a week is enough to make a Jack behave. Terriers of any sort need a lot of time and patience when it comes to training – Jack’s even more so.

  44. Michelle says:

    Hu-Fricken-Mongous!

  45. ozgeek says:

geez now THATS a security system.
    dog 1 : crooks -100000

  46. hrmpfh! says:

has bigger hedd than gurl. how bigg is brain tho?

  47. y2kdragon says:

    I has a miniature human?

  48. Sam says:

Aww, that’s a big little puppy. In my experience, the bigger the dog, the more likely a lapdog at heart. A few weeks ago, my Neapolitan mastiff puppy was lying on my lap when I was sitting on the ground. His shoulders were to the right of my legs, and his hips were to the left. It was actually kind of uncomfortable, but he was happy, so I petted him like that for a few minutes.

  49. Corie says:

Awwww. Big dogs are the best dogs- so sweet.

  50. Michelle says:

hope his poop isn’t as big as he is…for that girls sake.

  51. No, nawt shooped. Defly some sort of Mastiff mix. Lokkit dem jowels. My cuzin has lab/mastiff mix, he huge liek great dane.

  52. Hotdog Vendor says:

Very large dog? Very small woman? Who can tell?

  53. Laur says:

It is American Akita in Finland and it just happens to be that big for real.

  54. MedKid says:

Now THAT is a big ass dog…

  55. Lprsti99 says:

Yes, big dog, but more importantly, very cute girl ;)

  56. MummaMaremma says:

I think it it a groomed/shaved maremma, we got one that look like him

  57. Entiako says:

    It’s photoshopped.

  58. Freak says:

It’s not photoshopped, i happend know that girl and the dog too. It’s big.

  59. K-Chan says:
