Nope, it’s not an English Mastiff. *This* is an English Mastiff:

The Bullmastiff and the French Mastiff aka Dogue De Bordeaux (Hooch) are strikingly similar. The Bullmastiff is generally smaller, but Dolly has all the earmarkings of a Bullmastiff (except being oversized; the size makes it look more like a French Mastiff). The main feature that makes this one a Bullmastiff and not a French is the jowls; the FM’s face is much more wrinkly than Dolly’s decidedly Bullmastiff face.

The standard tile, like the ones by her feet, is only 6cm’s wide(for those not in the know, 6cm=2.3″) Assuming they are standard tiles, then the dogs paw is not even that wide & would make here a reely tiny person.

I’m pretty sure that my comments aren’t going through (but will likely appear later, sigh), and I suspect it’s because there are links included.

There was a discussion of this photo on the Urban Legends Reference Pages (snopes). Check under “Fauxtography”, there’s an item referring to “Dolly”, a large dog being given away to a good home. This photo is presumed to be a real one, with a small girl, a big (normal) Mastiff, and a slightly skewed perspective–the dog is a little more forward than the girl, making it seem a little larger. But check out her hand on its leg; that’s a big puppeh

Maybe, but Mastiffs are really BIG dogs…and Mean Girls can be really small, like 4′ 11” 80 pound style.

Think its an english mastiff, from the size. there was a kid who had one near where i lived, funny to watch them walk. the leash was clearly just a formality, since there was no way the little girl was stopping him if he wanted to go somewhere.

The shape of the head and his muscularity suggest a Bull Mastiff. While it could be a Dog de Bourdeaux, they tend to be more “jowly” with very smushed in muzzles. This is VERY large for either breed. We have an English Mastiff / Bull Mastiff mix that weighs in at around 240lb, and he doesn’t look anywhere near this broad. Just how tiny is this person or…does she know Photoshop?

Looks like a French Bull-Mastiff, they average up to 27″ at the shoulder and 130+ pounds. So a big male bull mastiff next to a little female human
