The polar bear and this husky actually played. There are a series of pictures (and maybe a video) of these 2 playing. The owner of the dog thought it was a goner when the polar bear came up, but for some reason he didn’t attack and actually played with the dog. Quite amazing.

The polar bear had not eaten for a while (weeks?), and was waiting for the ice floes to freeze. Did not view the (chained up!) dog as food, and the dog signaled “play with me!”. Bear visited with dog nightly for 2 weeks until the ice froze.

The bear was NOT full, it was hungrily waiting for the ice floes to freeze, so it could once again feed on seals. It spent 2 weeks visiting the dog before it left to catch food again.
