I a gramma- and when I wuz your age, there was NO internet- no color TV, no texting…no cell phones…no DVDs or cassetes, VCRs, MP3s or any other initials. now beat that for YOUR grandpuppies! =)

Oh yeah- and I had to walk uphill both ways in the…um…hot sun- california kid, you know….

Some parents and grandparents hit kids with the “when I was your age things were tougher” speech, which, with minor changes here and there, is pretty much the same across English-speaking cultures. The most beloved of these mythological trials that parents/grandparents suffered was having to walk to school, uphill both ways, in [name your depth] snow, in bare feet and wearing their father’s pyjamas.

So if you haven’t experienced this, the caption eludes your mythology and isn’t funny. For a lot of us, though, it strikes a very funny chord
