I had to do something very hard yesterday – I went with my Dad to have his companion, Lady (aka Missy Butthead) sent to the Rainbow Bridge. She had a very serious shear fracture to her front leg, and she was very spoiled (overweight even though she got a brisk hour-long walk every day). The surgery to repair it would have been expensive but he had no problem with that part…but her recovery would have been long and hellish, and he lives in a basement apartment and is not in the best of health himself. Dad made the best and loving but extremely difficult choice for her. Lady was his first “his alone” furbaby and his constant (and pretty much sole) companion and he’s never gone through this pain before…I would so like to print this out and give it to him but am afraid he’s hurting waaay too badly right now.
My Dad’s name is Dave and if you have a moment, kindly please send some healing vibes his way. He sure needs them.
And let this be a reminder – fat goggies are not healthy goggies. Lady’s extra weight most likely caused the break and robbed her of at least another six years with her beloved Daddy.

Oh, WW, my heart is breakin’ for you and specially for your dad. Losing a baby (and they’re always our babies) who has been a constant friend and faithful companion is no easier than losing any other family member, and it takes a long time to get through the grief process. You and Dave are in all our thoughts and prayers.
So sorry to hear this. I will be thinking about you and your father when I go home and snuggle with my furbaby tonight. It was smart of him to not keep her hanging on, in pain and disabled for however many years. That is the ultimate love, knowing when to let someone you love go.
hugs and puppy kisses to y’all. we are so very sad for your loss.
I sorry.
aww… I’m so sorry for you and your dad. I’m sure he gave that goggeh a wonderful life and lots of love, and I hope he gets thru the sadness okay.
Good thoughts for your dad and RIP Lady :*(
(hugs) Take care, Dave and Dave’s son. Much love to Lady, who can now run as freely as she wants.
I’m so sorry about Lady. What a loving and difficult decision your dad made. I hope he decides to get another doggie when he is ready. Lady wouldn’t want him to be alone.
:\
my condolences.
Aw, I’m very sorry about your loss. I know how your dad feels, though. I had to put my dog, Jacob, down because he could no longer walk without pain. He was very old and I miss him a lot. That was about 2 years ago, I’m not over it, but I do have another dog that I love very much. Hope he gets through it alright.
