It’s baking chocolate that’s fatal for dogs . . . milk chocolate isn’t great but it’s not fatal.
depends on the size of the dog an how much eaten. lil dog eat lots – could be veary bad.

Yeah … we had a friend’s dog at our house when I was much younger. My sister had left a few ounces of baking chocolate on the kitchen table overnight, and in the morning they were gone, along with a few chocolate liqueurs that had been elsewhere in the house. We didn’t know which dog had eaten them, our Black Lab or our friend’s Aussie Blue Heeler (or both). Per instructions from the vet, we had to pour hydrogen peroxide down the throats of both dogs till they puked. Ultimately our Lab turned out to be innocent, as she did not throw up anything but what the peroxide. The ABH, though, had a gut full of chocolate and will probably be less than fond of turkey basters for the rest of her life.

Knew a Shiba-inu who would eat anything that would fit in her mouth (and sometimes stuff that wouldn’t), and who would never pass up people foods. Ignorant people would feed her chocolate; she’d be sick for two or three days, get it out of her system, and be back to her old cranky self. Then they’d be so happy to see her again they’d treat her to more chocolate… Took a while to convince them of the pattern.
This is why there’s “dog chocolate” made with carob, it doesn’t make them sick but it’s still chocolatey good

I’m a vet tech, it’s not the milk chocolate that is bad for them (though can cause diarrhea), chocolate toxicity is from bakers chocolate also if they eat a lot of dark chocolate…

No that won’t be fatal to puppy. My old Irish Setter (RIP Mac) ate a whole box of valentines chocolates (a Whitman’s Sampler box) when it was maybe 5 months old and he lived to the rip old age of 14 years old. Anyways he ate them ALL….didn’t even leave me one…..I was mad, he could have shared or at least left me a chocolate covered peanut but nooooo, he ate them all and I learned to put things up WAY out of his reach.
That’s hilarious! We had a German Shepherd (also RIP ;_;) who would eat the middle out of a loaf of bread and leave the crust, and who–I swear I’m not making this up–one day ate an entire bag of Ricola cough drops. We came home to find empty wrappers all over the floor and Luke smelling like mint and lemon. You learn fast to put things high, and use elastic bands to keep the cupboards shut…
My German Shepherd resorts to eating the carpet if I don’t “accidently” leave something else within his reach when I leave. That makes for some strange poop, I’ll tell ya.
