         Because a carrier with a custom windshield on top of a car is safer than a dog in the back of a pickup. It happened 30+ years ago. And the dog liked it up there, he jumped in on his own whenever the family went on a trip. Any outrage at this story should be directed at the authors vapid religious bigotry.
